MAKING
MOVIE MAGIC
Richardson
Productions LLC’s feature-length parody film Harvey Putter and the
Ridiculous Premise is seeking advertising sponsors and investors
to join our exciting team. Our current sponsors include Better World
Books, Indiana University South Bend’s Raclin School of the Arts
and Alumni Association, Borders Bookstores, Fun
F/X and Little Kiran Productions in London. Our last film was
the award-winning The Dork of the Rings, which had over 20
successful screenings in such places as Atlanta, Toronto, Indianapolis,
California and Germany.
Veteran
film actor Kiran Shah plays Dumpy the
Houseschmuck in Harvey Putter. He is based in London and is the
world’s smallest stuntman working in film. Kiran has been in numerous
movies including Return of the Jedi, Legend, The Dark Crystal,
Titanic, Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.
We also have actors from Nevada, Florida and around the Midwest to
be in the film. Lead actors Bryce
Cone (Harvey Putter) and Joe Scheibelhut (Rod Cheesely) have
appeared in scores of independent films including Bloodlines, Kill the
Messenger, Plunge, and The Dork of the Rings. Emerson Spartz
makes a cameo as well since he is the owner of the world’s
largest Harry Potter website MuggleNet.com and attends college
locally at Notre Dame.
THE
STORY Celebrity
bad boy teen wizard Harvey Putter discovers through his headmaster
at Snogwarts School of Witchcrap, Professor Mumblemore, that they
are all merely fictitious characters in a best-selling children’s book.
Harvey and his best friends—“poor witch trash” kid Rod Cheesely
and the brainy Hernia Grunger--are tasked with collecting seven magical books known as “Hortexts” in order to
escape the book world before the final chapter.
However,
the mysterious and evil Lord Moldymort also wants to escape and
throws a series of obstacles in our heroes’ path, including such dark
creatures as the large-toothed, foul-breathed Dedentures,
brief-sporting Underwerewolves, and the nauseating contents of the Lunchbox
of Secrets. In the end, they must face off against the greatest terror
of all: their creator, author K.J. Bowling! Memorable moments from
all seven Potter books are crammed into this 100 minute, highly irreverent
satire.

the company has produced over 30 films of varying lengths and many genres
over the past 16 years with the incredible support of the local community.

ART
TEAM
There are numerous costume designers,
illustrators, special effects technicians, puppet makers, makeup artists
and musicians from New York to California working on the
project.
During The Dork of the
Rings, award-winning Effects Artist Ian Strandberg created
impressive fantasy backgrounds and will be doing the same for Harvey
Putter. He is joined by award-winning Costume Designers Janice
Bennett and Todd Davis, Creature Designer Andy Swisher,
and Graphic Designer Chad Rajski.
The
makeup effects team was also responsible for the prosthetics and
coloring needed for Kiran Shah as Dumpy. This involved sculpting ears
and a nose from Kiran's life cast and then creating latex pieces to
apply to his face.
FILMING
LOCATIONS
The
film was shot in a variety of locations in Indiana and Michigan,
including exterior shots at a unique bed and breakfast called Beyer
Castle, which has a very unique medieval charm. The main branch of the Mishawaka
Public Library is the setting of the film’s climax and we are grateful
for their staff's cooperation.
Much of the movie
was filmed on a giant soundstage provided by Better World
Books with an elaborate system of interchangeable walls and set
pieces to represent the many fascinating interiors of Snogwarts School.
We also shot several scenes inside their main warehouse which contains
over 2 million books!
COMMUNITY
AND PHILANTHROPY
The
Harry Potter fan community is well known for its support for humanitarian
causes such as literacy and the problems in Darfur. The filmmakers were
involved with several House Elf Clothing Drives for the South
Bend Center For The Homeless, collecting used clothing during all
three auditions held around town at Borders, Indiana University and Fun
F/X. One of our sponsors, Better World Books, donates to
a number of not-for-profits including Books For Africa and Invisible
Children.
The
Quaffle Kids played at two Wrockstock events which raised money for the
non-for-profit Harry Potter Alliance
and their fight for social
justice in our world. Richardson Productions is currently coordinating with the Harry Potter Alliance to donate a portion of all sponsor
donations and a percent of DVD sales to assist with their charitable
organizations. The company will also continue to work with the Center
For The Homeless throughout production to collect clothing and food
items and also work with non-for-profit literacy organizations.
